New experiences

This may sound totally odd, but last night was the first time in her life our almost 3 year old spend the night with her grandparents (away from mama and daddy). They have fixed up her room and they bought her a new bed and wardrobe from Ikea. She loved the setup and apparenlty slept through the night. Her Wela had little sleep, as she was on edge making sure Gabriela didn't wake up scared at some point.

This morning she played her little heart out riding her tricycle and painting and being the pizza delivery girl. (She loves to play pretend stuff right now). It is really cute! She apparenlty painted herself a blue moustache and beard so that she could look like her Paw Paw. She is so amazing to me. I get frustrated with her and the fact that she is sometimes having difficulty "obeying" rules and such, but she is a great kid.

Summer lovin'

Gabriela likes us to sing to her. Lots. She even likes it when we sing random sentences. I guess she is into that kind of cadence or rhythm or something. She wants to hear the same songs over and over (good for her, not so much for us).

She is such an amazing child. She is very good about going to sleep (knock on wood). We read a few books and we sing a few songs. Then she has us "talk" to her stuffed animals. We tell them to keep her safe and warm and help her have good dreams. Then it's kisses and good night and we leave and she goes to sleep. Right now she really likes doing butterfly kisses and Eskimo kisses. She will grab your head and move it side to side to rub against hers.

She also really loves bath time. Her daddy plays Led Zeppelin and they dance and sing and play with the water. They always have a great time and it is all I can do to keep from going in there. I do my best to keep from doing that, though, because that is their together time.

She starts ballet class next Saturday with Ms. Judith, whom I used to teach for. We already bought her leotards and her tights and shoes. She had a great time doing that. I don't know who is more excited, but I am certain that she will have a great experience.

First Blog

So I swore that I would never do one of these things. I think that I have finally decided to take the plunge into the blogosphere mainly because I wanted to document great things that Gabriela is doing. She talks so much and is so smart I can't believe it. She loves good night kisses -- Eskimo kisses, butterfly kisses, you name it! At bedtime tonight she was scared of a dinosaur (our neighbor was doing some work in his backyard and it made some scary noises). When she gets scared Gerry and I have to have a "talk" with her stuffed animals and make sure that they are going to take care of her.

She has more funny sayings than I can believe. Right now she is asking "why" about everything. But, her phrase is "cuz why"? Hence, the title for the blog. "Cuz why do the girls have to brush their teeth?" "Cuz why are the clouds moving?" I can't believe some of the questions she is coming up with. More than anything I can't believe that I have let my daily life get in the way of keeping track of all the amazing things she does.

She loves to jump, sing, dance, count. She loves drawing and running. She eats just about anything you put in front of her. She paints and puts stickers everywhere. And she LOVES to pretend. She will "cook" and play house and play teacher. She is a total ham.

I think I've probably said more than anyone could want to hear, so I'll just leave it at that for tonight.
